Gimme! Coffee is seeking a full-time Director of Human Resources and Engagement. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Director of Human Resources and Engagement has the opportunity to create and implement new policy, build and improve internal communications channels, and work as a member of our Leadership Team to find innovative solutions and make Gimme! Coffee a leader in our industry.
The Director of Human Resources and Engagement develops and leads Human Resources strategy and practices that foster an employee-centered, high performance culture at Gimme Coffee Cooperative. The position creates policies and programs that emphasize the core values of teamwork and communication; resource stewardship; safe working environment; and accountability and betterment. The Director of Human Resources and Engagement has an in-depth understanding of the interdependence of job functions in the cooperative and advocates for employees as part of the cooperative’s Leadership Team.
In addition, the Director of Human Resources and Engagement oversees all daily operations of human resources services including recruiting, onboarding, staff training and development, benefits and compensation, performance management, employee and labor relations, and compliance.

About You
You enjoy innovating and collaborating on projects to improve the employee experience. You are detail oriented to be able to keep track of HR compliance, but you're interested in moving beyond compliance in order to improve the workplace for all employees. You are motivated to work with a small business of 63 employees that is moving Human Resources in-house to improve the success of one of the nation’s largest union-cooperative organizations in the hospitality and manufacturing sectors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to bring teams together while building and mentoring staff for the long-term success of the group.
- Genuine interest in people and human development.
- Experience managing and differentiating individual performance levels to provide employee feedback for performance improvements, career development coaching and guidance, recognition and rewards for top performers, and accountability for not meeting expectations.
- Track record of setting ambitious goals and delivering on commitments.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills as demonstrated by the ability to think deeply and systemically about business problems, breaking down problems and presenting creative solutions.
- Keen interest in remaining aware of the changing landscape of HR and organizational development.
- Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
Experience, Education, and Training
- Two (2) years leading the Human Resource Management functions of a mid-sized business preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or business related field required. Master's degree in HR or equivalent a plus.
- Human Resources certification a plus (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP).
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of collective bargaining processes a plus.
Compensation
The pay range for this role begins at $70,000 - $80,000 a year, with annual increases.
