Chief Development Officer

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and results-driven Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead the Community Foundation’s fundraising and asset development initiatives. This senior leadership role will drive the Foundation’s efforts to expand its charitable and operational resources, ensuring sustainable growth across various fund types, including operating, donor-advised, field of interest, and designated funds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support Community Foundation’s mission and long-term goals.
• Donor Engagement: Cultivate and manage relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors to expand our donor base and increase philanthropic support.
• Campaign Management: Lead fundraising campaigns and initiatives, including major gifts, annual funds, and capital campaigns, ensuring alignment with Community Foundation’s overall vision and priorities.
• Team Management: Lead and develop a high-performing development team, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
• Collaboration & Advocacy: Work closely with board members, community leaders, and staff to enhance Community Foundation’s visibility and impact, and advocate for the needs of Tompkins County’s communities.
• Data & Impact: Utilize data and analytics to track fundraising progress, optimize strategies, and report on the foundation’s impact to stakeholders.
