Community Conversations: Groton

Join us for our next Community Conversation in Groton! There is a lot of exciting momentum in Groton, with their recent NY Forward Grant Award, being the first community in Tompkins County to receive the Pro-Housing Designation, and Groton Schools focused on STEAM education and workforce development opportunities!

We will engage in discussion with Groton community members, discuss the key topics below and the exciting things happening in their community, and tours of school facilities will be available after the event if you are interested.

Our STEAM facilities are the host of five programs that provide Project-Based and authentic learning opportunities for students in five areas: Building Trades, Health Sciences, Ag Technology, Computer Science, and Graphic Designs and Communications.  Students have the opportunity to earn college and/or apprenticeship credits while being exposed to several career options within their field of study. In addition, all students receive College and Career Readiness instruction throughout their time in the program. We are constantly looking for partnerships with area businesses that will afford our students the opportunity to apply the skills they are learning in these courses to real life projects. 
 
Community Conversations serve as a forum for the Chamber and Visit Ithaca to engage businesses who do not often attend Ithaca-based business networking events, and allow us to better understand and support the unique needs of each community. All business owners, non-profit leaders, and government officials are invited to attend.

Registration is requested but the event is free and open to all; you do not need to be a Chamber member to participate.
