Foodnet Meals on Wheels is hiring a Part-Time Relief Outreach Driver
We are the only agency in Tompkins County serving older adults through home delivered meals, nutrition services and friendly safety checks every day! Join the team dedicated to ensuring that our most vulnerable neighbors can remain independent and in their homes.
 
As the Relief Outreach Driver, you will:
  • Deliver fresh (yummy!) meals to client homes, following one of our eight preassigned Tompkins County routes one or two days per week between 8:30 am and 1:00 pm and providing relief coverage as needed and schedules.  This 5 hours per shift schedule aligns with school-aged parents/caregivers or the semi-retired. No weekend shifts required.
  • Provide a friendly visit and check-in for older adults receiving Foodnet meals in Tompkins County. 
  • Assist with food packing and safe temp transportation using hot/cold meal transporters loading into newer Foodnet-owned and carefully maintained cargo vans (with AC!)
  • Work with a fun, energetic group of individuals who are committed to assisting our senior neighbors live independently.

  • Receive a Living Wage starting at $18.45 per hour.
 
 To be the Relief Outreach Driver, you need:
  • A valid NYS driver’s license with clean driving and safety record.
  • A good sense of humor and ability to see good in others.
  • An interest in social services, food security and senior health and making our community a better place.
  • A collaborative and flexible work style and a willingness to communicate effectively as a part of a multifaceted and fun team.
  • Experience with older adults, differently abled individuals and diverse populations is welcome. Food service experience is not required but is also welcome.
  • High school diploma or record of equivalent skills to demonstrate success in the role.
  • Have the ability to bend, lift 40-60 lbs. and twist and enter/exit a van multiple times per shift.
